Sistemic Launches SistemQCâ„¢ microRNA-based Services for Cell Line QC

Potential for massive cost savings through downtime avoidance

Glasgow, Scotland, September 15th, 2010 – Sistemic Ltd., the fast growing UK
life sciences company, today launched their patented SistemQC™ services for
researchers and industry. SistemQC™ monitors cells including stem cell
populations for intended or unintended change using biologically defined
measures. These new product additions will support faster decision making
for cell manufacturers at critical QC points within their process workflows.
This allows them to proceed with confidence that their cell populations are
being reliably and informatively measured. With even slightly delayed
production costs often running into millions of dollars, the potential for
SistemQC to have a major impact is clear.

SistemQC™ utilises Sistemic’s enabling platform technology SistemRNA™, which
profiles microRNA expression providing a fingerprint of the cell system.
This informs on the current cell population phenotype giving confidence that
it has not deviated from the expected phenotype. SistemQC™ is suitable for
use in all cells including BHK, CHO, HEK-293, NS0, PER.C6 and hybridomas.

Prof. Chris Hillier, CEO says “SistemQC™ services are being launched in
response to the unmet need in the cell and stem cell fields: “In our
conversations with both researchers and pharma over the last 12 months, it
has become apparent that there is a real demand for reliable,
information-rich QC methods to monitor cells easily and effectively and to
fit within current workflow processes. Importantly, SistemQC™ not only gives
a succinct read out on the status of the cells but also an insight into the
underlying biological effects associated with any change detected. We are
now launching our service to US customers through our Boston office and the
rest of the world will follow shortly.”

About SistemRNA™ - SistemRNA™ is an enabling platform technology which
profiles microRNA expression and utilises in-house customised algorithms
which analyse the miRNA dataset that is produced when a cell is perturbed by
a stimulus. This creates models/clusters of microRNA that define the
phenotypic response. The microRNA response is reproducible and is a robust
marker defining the biological interaction between cell and the environment.
The benefit is that microRNA profiling monitors pathway control of the
entire biological system of the cell in a single assay. Data is kept to a
minimum where as knowledge is greatly enhanced allowing more appropriate
decisions to be taken. SistemRNA™ analysis captures the dynamic response of
all the cellular pathways as well as their interactions giving enhanced
clarity without data overload.

About Sistemic Ltd – At the core of Sistemic lays a deep understanding of
microRNA biology and profiling which in combination with customised in-house
data analysis, and contextualisation programs provides a powerful tool to
simplify the understanding of the biology. Sistemic’s primary business is
focussed on providing innovative, problem solving services and kit based
products to the life sciences research and development markets.
